Environment Canada Weather Radio Frequencies and Canadian Location Codes

Note: As of April 18, 2010 many of the Weather Radio links to Environment Canada were down due to a realignment of the EC web site. As of May 12 many of the links had new locations and have been updated on this page. The old pages showing individual transmitter site location maps and spec sheets are yet to be reactivated. Environment Canada's webmaster has been informed and we will update links as soon as they return to the EC web site.

E-Weather Services Subscriptions

Environment Canada shut down email alert system July 20th, 2010

This impacted the automatic updates for the Saskatchewan Amateur Radio League text message alert system. We have replaced our EC email feeds with an agregator service from www.weatherwatchers.ca which is run by a volunteer Sasktel employee in Weyburn. The alerts are 6-12 minutes delayed depending on the number of feeds taking place. You will still be able to receive these messages on any digital cellphone regardless of level of service. You may also subscribe directly to EC RSS feeds directly from Environment Canada for use on your computer or full service smart phone.

Manually transmitted text messages sent by any authorized SARL mail list member will still go out to the Amateur Radio Emergency Service or CANWARN members as they always have within seconds.

Please see the email message below that was sent out to all Environment Canada subscribers.

From: weatheroffice@ec.gc.ca
Subject: [Saskatoon-ARES ALERTS] e-Products: Important Service Update
To: saskatoon-alerts@sarl.ca

On July 20th the e-Weather and e-Warning services will be shutdown and will be replaced by RSS Weather and RSS Warnings located on Environment Canada's Weatheroffice city pages (www.weatheroffice.gc.ca) . Further information on the use of RSS can be found at www.weatheroffice.gc.ca/business/index_e.html#rss.  In addition weather alerts can be received through the Weatheradio network (www.ec.gc.ca/weatheradio) of Environment Canada.  It should be noted that email services are also provided by third parties.

e-Weather and e-Warning services will no longer be accepting clients but will continue operating until July 20th.

If you wish to contact us, please do not reply to this message but instead go to www.weatheroffice.gc.ca/mainmenu/contact_us_e.html.
Replies to this message will not be read or responded to.
